Falling Into Us by Jasinda Wilder - Review

Hmmm so I was really excited to read Falling Into Us, especially after reading Falling Into You but I do have to be honest…I was a bit disappointed. I felt like everything just dragged and dragged and dragged and there was no real “point” to the story.

Maybe it’s just me but I felt like the meat of the story was missing. I did love Becca and Jason’s story I just felt like I was being dragged through the mud page after page!!!! I mean when what happened with Becca’s brother was just kind of dismissed, I felt cheated in a way.

Throughout the whole story certain situations would be dragged out and others just rushed through…kind felt like being 15 again and learning to drive for the for the first time…gas…brake…gas…brake…gas…brake!!!!!!! Oh well…it was a good read and I don’t regret reading it but I just couldn’t help but feel something was just lacking in the book.

Falling Into You by Jasinda Wilder - Review

What can I say about this book…tragically heartbreaking but learning to find the light at the end of the tunnel. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I came across this book but it definitely shocked the hell out of me!

When just reading the excerpt from this book I thought ehhh it’s sounds okay, possibly a decent story, let’s just give it a go. So I did and boy am I glad I did. I’m not going to go into detail about this entire book and give you a background on each character but I will give you the gist of it. The story starts with Nell and Luke, which are your average best friends, turned lovers…anyone thinking Dawson’s Creek?!?! Yeah same here!

It was a little sugar coated with sugar coated cherries on top for me to start off but once the “tragedy” happened and Luke died (no this is NOT a spoiler, it gives you this detail in the excerpt of the book) the book took a VERY deep and dark turn.

I cried and cried and cried throughout the better half of this book. It was how this book was written and how music was continuously thrown into situations that made this story go to a whole other level for me. I literally downloaded almost every song, I didn’t already have, that was noted in this book.

 So once all this deep, dark, mournful emotions start rolling out, in comes Luke’s older, deeply troubled brother Colton. It’s literally like Colton is Nell’s twisted, guardian angel with tinged wings. I honestly don’t know how else to describe Colton. The pain both of them endured was almost suffocating at times. I felt like I needed to take a step back as to not get lost in their despair, that’s how well this book is written. Believe me I’m NOT complaining but the book is written so that you feel their pain, their grief, their journey to find peace within themselves.

The book covers some dark issues but overall it’s about finding that hope; crawling out of the depths of hell and overcoming loss, grief and acceptance. The author wrote it best…

Fighting to Forgive by JB Salsbury - Review

Where do I even start with the second installment of the Fighting Series by JB Slasbury?!?! After reading Fighting for Flight, I could not wait to read more about these gorgeous UFC fighters! I was especially excited to read about my favorite, Blake "The Snake" Daniels.

 Blake won my heart over and made my panties want to drop numerous times!!! I have been waiting to get into Blake's head since reading Fighting for Flight. Blake is a smart ass, smooth talking, fine piece of man that has a broken past. Since the first chapter, I wanted to shelter the old Blake and cry for the pain he had to endure all because he wanted to do what he loved best. But the man he became....my God just take me already!!!!!

 Layla was a perfect match for Blake in my opinion. She could stand her own ground even though she doubted herself. She didn't annoy me with being a weak, whiny scared of the world female. Instead she won my heart by stepping up and being the mom she had to be and giving herself and her daughter the life they needed.

Blake and Layla just worked beautifully. She knew exactly how to push his buttons enough to get to his heart! And Blake's affection toward Layla's daughter Axelle just stole my heart even more! Even though both came from broken pasts, they were able to overcome and find love within each other. JB Salsbury never disappoints and I can guarantee you won't be disappointed reading Fighting to Forgive!

Fighting for Flight by J.B. Salsbury- Review!

How could you not love this book cover? Love the tattoos and the story behind them!

I enjoyed this book. I loved Jonah Slade! I mean, how could you not?

 Jonah is a UFL playboy. He's well known throughout the community for his skills inside and outside of the octagon. Jonah's focus has been all on his training, preparing for his big fight with the UFL. There's little that could deter Jonah from gym time, training, and keeping his eye on the prize.


Enter, Raven. I liked Raven (most of the time) and thought their interactions were perfect. It was steamy from the first time they met and you could feel the chemistry between the lines you read! I feel like she wasn't as realistic, though. Raven came from a horrible background, with a Mother who was rarely there for her and a father who was a monster. Going through all that her character had, I would expect  her to be a little more...jaded. I don't know, that's just me! I loved that she was a total tomboy, working as a mechanic and had a huge passion for cars, but yet she could totally be all feminine with Jonah!


Overall, the chemistry between Jonah and Raven was electric. She couldn't take her eyes off of him, he couldn't take his hands off her. You just wanted to be part of that relationship and feel the way they made the other feel! I love Raven and Jonah together and can't wait to read more of their story in the following books :)

I also thought her relationship with Eve was strange or just undeveloped. I wish we would've gotten deeper in to that. **Side note: The author has since stated she's going to be doing a book dedicated to Eve, so I'm ecstatic about that! I really believe there's an interesting backstory with Eve and I can't wait to read it!


 If the second book can't be about Jonah, then I am thrilled it's about Blake! His attitude cracked me up in the book, and I loved the sliver of vulnerability he showed when talking with Raven. Overall, this was a good, easy read, it fueled my romance wants, and I'm looking forward to the next books in the series!

Fighting to Forget by J.B. Salsbury- Review!

In Book 3 of the Fighting series, we're introduced to Rex. I've been looking forward to reading Rex's story for a while- he always held an air of mystery whenever he was mentioned in either of the first two books in this series. After reading Fighting to Forget, I can definitely understand why.

Let's talk about Rex. The early parts of Rex's life were terrible. They were devastating, cruel, and traumatic and Rex can't remember any of it. He gets flashes and has nightmares, but can't figure out if they are actual memories or just random thoughts his brain has. Rex's therapist tells him the nightmares have to come from something, probably things his childhood brain regressed, but Rex doesn't want to believe the things in his nightmares could possibly be true, except for her...


Gia is the little girl who was Rex's friend through childhood. She visited him through a crack below the door, especially on the extra challenging nights. Both were treated horribly by parents/foster-parents but Gia always tried to comfort Rex whenever she could. 8 year old Gia was determined to find a way to rescue 10 year old Rex, even if she had to risk herself to do so.

Present day:

Rex is a thrill-seeker. He savors pain because it's the only thing tying him to reality, making him feel alive. He gets a major rush from adrenaline and has triggers when people say certain things to him. He has a temper he can barely keep contained and prefers to keep everyone at a distance because he doesn't want anyone to see the real him.


Mac is starting a new life. She came to Vegas for revenge, but found out that wasn't going to happen. Now, she's searching for peace. Mac has been watching Rex from afar, as a waitress at the bar his band frequents. Mac has a big secret and has information that could make or break Rex, but can't decide if she should risk telling him. Mac wants Rex, more than she's ever wanted anything, and is so close to having him, she is scared to risk messing it up.




Rex finds out what Mac is hiding from him. He's destroyed with this new information. He wants to hurt himself to make himself feel alive, a familiar coping mechanism he's used most of his adult life. It breaks your heart as the reader to witness him fall totally and completely apart. Mac is able to help him some, stop him from doing something severe, but then he pushes her away.

Mac leaves because she can't take the pain she's caused Rex, once again. She stays gone for a while, slowly killing herself, because she believes she's got nothing left to live for without Rex. Luckily, Mac's old roommate is clued in on what she's been up to and reaches out to Rex. Will Rex be able to put aside his issues and try to help Mac? You'll just have to read the book to find out! This was a 5 star read for me!

I am going to be truthfully honest here...I almost didn't finish this book after getting about 20% into it. Why you ask, well it was just kind of all over the place for me at first. I like the whole cat and mouse chase between two characters. It builds the anticipation and need and it keeps the reader interested. The two characters in this book literally were grinding and groping within the first 20 pages! I mean for the love of God...feel me up, tease me, give me a little fourplay to warm me up!!!!! Geez COME ON!!!!!!

Okay so you have Charlize who is the CEO of her families company and trying to prove herself as a female in the big boy chair of the corporate world. Well that doesn't go well with all the men who work in management at the company because well she has tits, a vagina and she sits to pee! She ends up firing one of the douchbags and well he doesn't take it lightly and tries to kidnap her, rape her, kill her etc etc. Of course he doesn't succeed and gets away, so she hires a bodyguard and a whole new security team to keep a close eye out.

Enter Conner Crowe...former cop turned self defense coach. Can you handle that! He is the owner and founder of Crowe Security and has made it his mission to protect Charlize and catch psycho, disgruntled ex employee.

I will say that the further I got into the book, the more I enjoyed it. I felt the first part of the book was just sex, sex and more sex. I mean don't get me wrong...I love sex! BUT there's got to be some substance to the story instead of just wam-bam-thank-you-ma'am characters. As I said, the story does get better further in and by the end of the book I truly enjoyed it. I just wanted more from Charlize and more from Conner...I feel like we're just kind of left with a taste instead of the full course! So if you're in for a hot, quick read then pick this book up and give it a go!

Real by Katy Evans - Review

 There's only one warning I will give for this book before I start my review...it's sexy as hell and you will be.....

Okay where do I even begin with this story?!?!? I mean MY GOD it was crazy perfect. As ya'll know I love sexy, rough and tough alpha males in the books I read but when you toss in a dash of a mental health illness, shit just got real.

Remington "Remy" Tate is like no other male character I've read in a book; he is the ultimate alpha male. He's definitely got the whole sexy charisma going on but as you read it's like he reaches into the depths of your soul and touches you in ways you didn't know existed...that's how good of a writer Katy Evans is.

Remy is a fighter in an underground fighting circuit and it's here that he meets Brooke Dumas. She shows up at one of these fights and is instantly captivated by everything that is Remy. I mean who the hell wouldn't!! Brooke and Remy's first meeting holds one of my all time book quotes

 "What's your name?"

"Brooke."

"Brooke what?"

"It's Brooke Dumas."

"Brooke Dumas."

"He just fucked my name right in front of me."

 Say what?!?!?!?!?!?

I'm not going to go into too much detail with my review because you just have to read this story. Brooke and Remy are unlike any two characters I've read. You have Brooke who wanted so badly to be a competitor in the Olympics and trained hard to accomplish that dream but due to an injury she's taken a path in sports medicine. She then goes to work for Remy, training him for his fights. This is where all the tension and passion starts to build. One of the best aspects of this book is the way Remy expresses himself...through music. No he doesn't play an instrument but rather he chooses songs where the lyrics are exactly what his mind and heart are saying and makes Brooke listen to them. He speaks to her through lyrics of songs...God Bless America folks WINNER!!!

I loved this book. I loved Remy and Brooke. I loved the realness (no pun intended) of the entire story. Not only do you get a male character with a dark, scary, uncrontrolled side but you also get a heroine that doesn't shy away, she's his saving grace.
