His fingers found the buttons on my shirt, though he paused for a moment, silently asking for permission.

I nodded, my heart hammering against my ribs. A million different emotions warred inside me. Want, anxiety, excitement, fear. But most of all, hope. For this moment. For us.

Nash’s fingers deftly unfastened each button. But he seemed to be in no hurry. My hands lifted to the top buttons to help the process along.

My eyes flared as my hands fell back to the mattress. “Oh.”

Nash leaned over me, his lips skimming the column of my neck. “I’ve dreamt of how this skin would feel. How it would taste. I’ve come to pictures of you in my mind more times than I can count. And I know the real thing will ruin me forever. But it’ll be so damn worth it.”

My breaths came in short pants, my fingers fisting in the sheets. “Nash…”

 He pulled back, moving from button to button. “Hmm?”

 His focus was zeroed in on each expanse of skin my parted shirt revealed as if it were the most riveting sight he’d ever seen. Nash’s thumb circled my belly button. It was the most innocent of movements, but it had everything in me drawing up and winding tighter.

“Please.”

Nash unbuttoned another clasp. “Don’t rush me.”

I squirmed in place, a million curses on the tip of my tongue. But two could play this game. I ran my bare foot up the inside of his leg from his calf to his thigh to what stood at attention between us.

“Maddie…” he growled.

I grinned. “What? If you get to touch, I get to touch.” I stroked Nash through his sweatpants.

The sound that slipped from his lips wasn’t altogether human. Nash took both sides of my blouse and tugged. The remaining buttons went flying across the room.

I gaped at him. “You did not just do that.”

Nash grinned as he slid the blouse down my arms. As the fabric parted more, he stilled, his gaze zeroing in on the kaleidoscope of colors on my side.

I swallowed. “It doesn’t hurt anymore.”

His fingers lightly skimmed the marred skin, then he bent and ghosted his lips over the fading bruises. “I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry I wasn’t there. That I didn’t—”

I grabbed Nash’s tee and gave a hard tug. “No. It’s not on you. And he doesn’t get a place here. Not when it’s you and me. Not when I finally have what I’ve wanted all these years.”

Nash took my mouth in a long, slow kiss. “It’s you and me.”

“Always you and me,” I whispered against his lips.

Review:

The Bachelor was a solid 3.5 star book filled with all the steam you could need!

This book was such a fitting ending to this series. If you are looking for a set of stories filled with passion, romance, charisma and characters you can’t help but love, this is the series for you!

The Bachelor follows Camden, twin brother to Hannah, who you fall in love with in earlier books of the series, and Oaklyn, Hannah’s best friend. Camden is another super successful lawyer in the Dalton group world and Oaklyn is a successful marketing guru in the height of her career. Each of these characters live such an entertaining life on their own, but when you bring two star crossed, forbidden lovers together, it’s bound to be quite the show to watch and see what happens!

I don’t want to go into too many details because I don’t want to give anything away, but this book will keep you entertained and keep you on the edge of your seat, in multiple ways! I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to think about a restaurant or particular shopping scene again without blushing. There were several times throughout this book I needed a fan or a quick cool down! Marni Mann knows how to write 🔥 and that is evident in this story and all the others of this series! I thought Camden and Oaklyn’s story was a great addition to the overall story of this series, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t love the cameos we got from Hannah and Declan just as much in this book! I loved how this book ended giving us a good wrap up of all the characters we’ve read and fallen for in the earlier series, not just focusing on the new ones we got to know now. It was a great ending and I can’t wait to read the next story Marni has up her sleeve!

Review:

Aleatha, Aleatha, Aleatha- the woman knows how to end a book with some suspense!!! Each book in this series leaves me with more: more questions, more excitement, more angst, more thrill! This book was no different. Page for page, I couldn’t wait to find out what other shoe was going to drop. I couldn’t wait to know what new bit of the story Roman was going to learn, how he was going to include Lucille, and how the two of them would address it together. I love how the relationship between these two characters have grown. Let me say now, if you haven’t read the series from book 1, please do! It is a must to really understand what’s going on and I would hate for this story to be spoiled for you. This review will be spoiler free because I want that for all my reviews but I do reference the story line some and I don’t want to reveal anything you need to discover for yourself!

Having said that, I just really enjoy watching these characters grow and develop. I’ve enjoyed watching their relationship together change in the best way but I’ve also loved seeing each individual really come into their own in their royal and personal roles. Lucille, especially in this book, has really turned into a woman who is strong and unafraid, unyielding in her pursuit of knowing her own worth and wanting others to see it too. I LOVE that. Roman has truly dedicated himself to the task at hand which is so interesting to see happen and has kept me on pins and needles to know how it’s all going to play out for him. The Queen and Isabella have also raised more questions for me after reading this book. Then there’s some characters who just continue to make me ill! 

Overall, this was another wonderful installment in this series and I am so glad I had the opportunity to read it. I am so sad there is only one book left of this story, but you can make sure the second that book hits my kindle, the pages will start flying!! Bring it on Ms. Romig!

Review:

What a book! I don’t even know where to begin when starting my review on Lyla and Lachlan’s book. This couple is electric together. You can feel their passion, their love, their soul matchery for each other through every page! Claire Contreras knows a thing or two about character development for sure and put her talents on display loud and proud through this book. You can feel every emotion each of these characters feel and feel it so strongly it feels like your own. Your heart breaks with them during the sad parts of this book, you can feel the rage they feel during the parts of the book that make you want to scream, but most of all you can feel the love they have for each other. 

This couple goes through the wringer to say the least. Lyla is a survivor. She is so strong and so independent which I love about her but I also simultaneously love how she lets Lachlan in. She feels as fiercely about him as he does about her and that is saying a lot! I also love the friendships she allows in her life: because she is so guarded after all the crap thrown her way, it just makes these friendships seem so strong, so magical, that if you’re lucky enough to have friends like these in your real life, this book makes you appreciate them even more! 

Now to talk about Lachlan… man, when that man allows himself to open up and care about somebody- world you better get out of his way!! He is fierce, protective, fiery, and a little obsessive but in the best way. I love how he treats Lyla. I love how he treats his mom. I love that puck bunnies don’t even make him blink. I just am a fan of Lachlan Duke, period. He’s been one of my most favorite male characters Claire Contreras has written to date.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I don’t want to go into too many details on the story line because I don’t want to spoil it, but this book will keep you hooked from page one until the end! It invokes so many emotions and creates some seriously intense suspense, I can promise you it’s a book I won’t be forgetting any time in the future!
