Review:

To say this has been a highly anticipated read for me is an understatement! I’ve loved A.L. Jackson for years. There are so many books of hers that I’ve thoroughly enjoyed. There’s something about this Redemption Hill series though that is just more for me! I originally fell in love with Trent and Eden in Give Me a Reason, the first book in this series. I had no idea what to expect with that book and it was one of the best books I’ve read in years. Of course during that book, I got introduced to Jud and part of his story and I was on pins and needles waiting to see how his story would unfold. And it was good. So freaking good. I had to stop reading several times with this story just because I was so afraid I would read it all in one sitting and then it’d be over and I would be so sad. So, I took my time with this story. I felt my feelings with this story, felt the feelings of these characters in this story. I loved and hated both Jud & Salem’s stories but only hated because of what they had to experience at the hands of people who were supposed to love and cherish them. Watching these characters grow and develop and go through all the freaking things they have to go through in this story… gah, it tears your heart strings! I’ve mentioned how much I love Jud & Salem but there’s another I haven’t mentioned yet and that is sweet Juni Bee. Omg, y’all. I don’t think I’ve ever fell more in love with a kid in a book than her (except Gage in Give Me a Reason). Her little spirit, after all she’s been through… 😭 I can’t even. And Mimi, how can you not love Mimi?! Overall, this story was just incredible. It’s full of grit and hurt and pain and loss and trauma, but also love and family and trust and what a home should truly be. I can’t wait to keep the Redemption series rolling with Logan, I know it’ll be amazing!!

What a cute story!! This book was exactly what I needed- something sweet, something light, something good. To me it seems just about impossible to not be charmed by Shep and Sophie. Not to say I wouldn’t have handled a few things differently than Sophie did, but still. Both of these characters are just… good. Good people who treat others how we should all treat others, with love, kindness, selflessness. This story kept me entertained from start to finish, wanting to know, needing to know how it was all going to work out! I’ve read Jewel E. Ann’s books before and knew I would enjoy her writing style but had no idea how much I would fall in love with this one. The epilogue of this story was just… perfection. I’m so glad we got to see a snippet of the future, even if I happily focused on the here and now throughout the rest of the book! If you’re interested in reading a light, contemporary romance with a friends to lovers/secret romance theme, this book is the one! Check it out today! Thank you for another incredible story, Jewel E. Ann! Can’t wait to read whatever comes next!

There was the charm all mixed up with the disorder that was at the heart of this man. 

My chest squeezed and the blood thundered through my veins. 

“Beauty. The meaning of it.” The words fell on a harsh exhale from his lips, and the air that was barely skating up my throat died right there when he slowly toed off the dress shoes he wore. 

Obsidian eyes flashed like a rush of the darkest night, rough as they devoured me from across the space.

Without looking away, he leaned down and peeled the socks from his feet.

I gulped, then I was nearly passing out when he ticked through the buttons on his shirt and peeled that off, too. 

The man was nothing but wide, wide shoulders. Muscle everywhere, bulky on his arms and chest, his abdomen packed, tapering down and narrow at the waist. 

Most all of his skin was covered in ink that seemed to scream the same as the walls, though it remained indistinct in the minimal light cast down from the rafters. 

But I could make out enough to get the intonation.

The pure intimidation.

The mountain of a man stood there for a moment, then he took a step forward. 

Energy rushed across the floor.

He approached like a phantom. Like a painting that had come to life. 

It covered me whole and caressed me in shadows. 

I was right. This man was definitely, definitely dangerous.

There was no question about it then.

And still, I remained there, held in his gaze, feeling the safest I’d ever felt. 

I thought he was coming for me, only he slipped by on his bare feet.

What a cute story!! I truly enjoyed this book. It has been a long time since I have read anything in the YA world, but this book has reminded me why I love it so. This book definitely started off as a slow burn, in the best way possible. I love that we get to see these characters really grow and develop through this story. I feel like we’re watching them not only grow up as individuals but also as two people trying to figure out if they really make sense for each other. The level of extravagance in this book is a little unbelievable from me, a girl who would never be able to have an experience like this, but all good stories have something in them that’s a little hard to believe but you love anyway. This story was perfectly named, the visuals and art created in this story was so descriptive that I couldn’t help but easily imagine it in my mind’s eye. Towards the end of the book, there  was so much heat, so much passion, but also so much substance and sweetness and just… ❤️ I’m so glad I had a chance to read this story, I hope we will get to see Crew and Birdy sometime again soon!

Y’all, this book is hot, hot, hot! 🔥🔥🔥 If you are looking for a steamy, spicy romance with some characters you can’t help but fall in love with… this is your next book! I’m a frequent flier when it comes to Marni Mann books so I already knew I would love this story too. I loved Jenner, especially. We’re introduced to him earlier in this series (though this can definitely be read as a stand alone) and I couldn’t wait to hear his story. Who doesn’t love when a playboy finds his match?! I also loved Jo’s character. She is a take charge, confident, smart and talented woman who goes after what she wants, and that’s at age 22! I only wish I had half the confidence she does when I was 22 😍 Overall, I really enjoyed Jenner and Jo’s story. A little over half way into the book threw me for a loop I was completely not expecting but it made me have to finish the book in that sitting! I hope you’ll take the chance on this one, and if you do- grab a fan! 🔥
