Exposing the Groom Review & Release Blitz!

Title: Exposing the Groom
Author: Rachel Van Dyken

Romantic Comedy, New Adult Romance, Wedding Singer/Rockstar Romance, Grumpy-Sunshine

Killian swept in like a knight in shining leather pants to save Scarlett once she exposed the groom. The next time they saw each other, they ended up fake-engaged. Can they find a way to make it down the aisle together and live happily ever after? Find out in #1 New York Times bestselling author Rachel Van Dyken’s EXposing the Groom, a romantic comedy with a side of rockstar.

How it started:
An accidental phone grab during my rehearsal dinner while my fiancé went to use the restroom.

How it ended:
Reading all the dirty texts between him and my maid of honor, aka little sister, during our vows in front of the world in what would later be considered one of the most viral wedding videos on TikTok.
Of. All. Time.
Did I mention his vows were before mine, and he compared me to my adopted dog because... and I quote, “I’m so loyal.”
It’s not my fault that my first instinct, after exposing his dirty lies, was to run up to the clueless rockstar that was supposed to headline my reception and ask him to sing my tears away. I never expected him to help me escape certain disaster, kiss me senseless, and then buy me ice cream.
But that was all in the past—until I’m staring down at a wedding invitation from the crappy little crap pants ex. You see, he swapped sisters, and now a year later, they’re getting married at a gorgeous winery while I’m still staring down at a plus one, wondering if I can bring my pet turtle.

How it happened:
In desperation, I sent a drunken text to the hot rockstar with a picture of my turtle, Chuck Norris… in a bowtie. Who knew he would show up at the wedding—but get this, it wasn’t to save me, nope, it was to… yup, SING!
SHE STOLE HIM TOO!
But now that he’s there and I’m there, and the history is there, I beg him one more time to save me, this time as my date.
But lie after lie just kept pouring out of my mouth until we were somehow fake-engaged.
I would laugh if crying didn’t feel so good.
Should have brought the freaking turtle...

Review:

This book was just what I needed! RVD has such a way of writing a story that can make you laugh, cry, and experience all sorts of other emotions within a chapter or two! The characters in this book, especially Scarlett, go through some really crappy things but with Rachel’s writing and intention for this story, she easily takes something that could be tragic and turns it into a comedy! I love that there were real emotions you feel reading this book but an overall theme of laughter. There are so many books I’ve read lately that are dark and serious and filled with the worst of things and don’t get me wrong, I love those books too, but honestly this story was exactly what i needed right now. It was a breath of fresh air. It was a romantic comedy on the Max Emory level if you’re a lover of all things RVD like me, and Max is hard to tie or beat. I loved the little Easter eggs we got with characters we’ve met before. I thought Dustin’s character was hilarious. I am a big fan of Adrian and truly hope we get to see him again in the future, would even love a whole book about him and finding his happy ending. Addison was truly the worst (& Rob) and I will be happy to never read about her again. Scarlett is an angel in my opinion for dealing with the hate she had to from her own sister and still being the bigger person! Speaking of Scarlett though, I just loved her. I love that she wears her heart on her sleeve. I love that she feels things so strongly. She can be a bit of a mess, but can’t we all?! 😂 And I can’t talk about Scarlett without talking about Killian! The way he just jumped in to immediately help her, the way he’s willing to stand in when he’s needed, gah-he just melts your heart! And then you find out more about his story, and love him even more! Anyway, while this book will definitely leave you laughing out loud (which I LOVE), it also connects with your emotions in a truly wonderful way and I am so glad I had the opportunity to read this book. Thank you RVD for the book we all needed right now. Can’t wait to read the next one!

EXPOSING THE GROOM

“Our destiny awaits.”

“Hmm, destiny?”

“Destiny,” I answer.

You ever wonder how much power one single word can hold?

I thought I knew. I’m an artist, after all; words are what I do. They’re what I wield; they may as well be my sword.

But I miscalculated the power just like I miscalculated every step that led me into her house.

Every laugh.

Every sigh.

Even the silence was grossly miscalculated.

The moments where two people know it’s right but wrong at the same time, where the kisses feel more urgent and passionate than they should, like you’ve struck the perfect chord with another only to know the song has to end—it must.

The world paused that night.

And like passing ships, we continued on.

And lived for ourselves rather than each other.

I still think about the times I stopped walking toward the SUV.

The number of times I reached into my pocket and touched one of the stupid coaster party favors I’d found on her table when I left in the darkness.

Some things mean something because they can’t help it.

Some things mean something because they must.

And some things you force yourself to look at as meaningless because if you truly acknowledged their truth—then destiny, for sure, would find you. And not all of us are ready for the truth.

Some of us look at truth as the end of the fake reality you’ve been living, tossing you into the rawness of your existence.

And some of us would rather live outside of that because it’s the only way we can survive.
