Cruel North by JB Salsbury Review & Release Blitz!

Time has passed. But their chemistry remains.

Cruel North, an all-new surprise pregnancy, forced proximity contemporary romance with sizzling chemistry from New York Times bestselling author JB Salsbury is now available!

Cruel North is an angsty second-chance, enemies to lovers romance where the most hated man in the North Brothers world finally gets brought to his knees.

A teenage girl with my eyes and a familiar glare, strolls into my life and she’s calling me Dad.

Vanessa was my high school girlfriend and the smartest person I knew. She had a plan, a future, and she swore nothing would get in the way. Until she became pregnant. I thought we agreed on our plan. I sent her the money. Then she disappeared.

Her parents told me she was in South America for a year. They told me she needed space. I never heard from her again.

Seventeen years later and she’s back. I’m staring into those green eyes that used to tempt and taunt me. But it’s not just about us anymore. We have a daughter.

Wanting to get to know her, I convince them to move in with me for one month. I’m so angry with Vanessa and she seems to be equally upset. Every insult from her smart mouth invites me to engage. The brutal chemistry between us ignites old embers. I wish I could hate her. Instead, I want her.

But too much time has passed, and I fear some hurts run too deep to heal.
At the end of thirty days, I’ll have to let them go.
Unless I figure out a way to keep them.

Review:

Hayes freaking North. I have been waiting, not so patiently, for this man’s book for what feels like forever and let me tell you- it did not disappoint!! Hayes has been such an enigma through this North Brothers series. He’s easily always been the one you love to hate. Knowing myself though, I knew I would end up finding some redemption in a character that seemed unredeemable through earlier books. JB Salsbury has a way of making you feel so strongly against a character but also still search for that sliver of a soul on the inside. That was definitely the case with Hayes.

I’m so glad we finally got to hear more of his story. I loved learning about his childhood, his history, even though there are obvious parts we all wish we were different. I love what Vanessa was to him, then and now. I love that he has always encouraged her to be exactly who she should be. I hate the choice he made as a young, immature teen, but I also don’t ignore the fact that he had August as a father and that most certainly impacted Hayes and his decisions growing up.

Hayes getting to meet and get to know Haven was everything. It made my heart hurt for all the time that was lost, but also made it happy to see him just jump in as best as he could figure out to do. I love his fatherly development in this story. I loved his emotional maturity as we watched it grow and unfold. I loved his fierce love of Vanessa as a person and how strong she is and how strong she raised their daughter to be. I love their fire. I LOVED the end of this book. There is just so much about this story that I love, it’s hard to put it all into words. Cruel North was another incredible installment in this series and I am so happy I had the chance to read this one early. Hayes and Vanessa’s story kept me locked in from page one and I hope to be able to read more one day! I also have to mention- I love the cameos of all the other characters I’ve fallen in love with in this series, thank you for that Mrs. Salsbury!!

True North by JB Salsbury Review and Release Blitz!

She’s his total opposite.
But she could be his everything.

True North, an all-new opposites attract contemporary romance from New York Times bestselling author JB Salsbury is now available!

The North name is a heavy burden. Two things I learned young—the best way to keep my head on is to keep my head down, and… never fall in love.
But I’m a sucker for a damsel in distress.

Lillian came into my life swinging. Mistaking me for my abusive twin brother, she greets me with a swift kick to the balls and a busted lip. Then she really shakes up my world.

She needs her job, but she needs a break just as much. And nothing silences my demons as efficiently as playing the hero.

To protect her from my jerk twin—her boss—I take her on a business trip and quickly learn that she’s different. Blunt. Honest. Intriguingly strange. I’m transfixed, so when she unknowingly sinks a multimillion-dollar deal, I don’t speak up. Something my family won’t forgive.

Now, I have a choice to make. I can go against my own blood and burn the North legacy to the ground, or play it safe, commit to my self-imposed rules and predestined future. Choosing her would ruin my life as I know it, but I’m starting to wonder if a life without her is worth living.

Review:

OMG! That ending!! I’ve looked forward to every new book in this series, but with that ending… I’m going to need Hayes’ story right about now, Mrs. Salsbury!!! I’m both shocked and ecstatic about being so excited to read Hayes’ book as he is easily one of those characters that you can’t stand, but I also know JB will find a way to redeem him in the reader’s eyes.

Anyway, enough about Hades. Can we talk about Hudson and Lillian?! What a perfect match! I love everything about Hudson. I’m a sucker for a savior, probably because I just love when a man loves his woman and wants/needs to do everything he can to protect her. Yes, please! And I adore Lillian. I love her quirkiness and I love that she starts to own her ADHD and quirks towards the end. I also LOVE the collaboration that comes later in the book for her, her new job is an absolute best case scenario that I didn’t even consider but now just freaking love. I love Hudson and Lily’s relationship. I love when she gets past her insecurities and Hudson can admit to himself how he really feels. The only thing I feel like I’m missing with this book is more on how things ended up with Lily and her family. We know that she continues a relationship with Aaron even though he seems like a succubus, I just wonder what happened from the time she threw everything in the apartment at him to make him get out, to then her celebration party towards the end. I’ll likely never know but I had this thought and I felt Lily would appreciate me randomly inserting this thought into this review!

Moving on… I also of course loved getting to see the other North brothers and their partners that I’ve also previously fallen in love with. There was so much good in this book. It was a perfect installation into the North Brothers series and up to par with how fantastic the other books have been. I finished this book with a big smile on my face and also so many questions for the next story. I can’t wait!!

Rebel North by JB Salsbury Review and Release Blitz

I’m not who I led her to believe. I’m sin wrapped in silk. Betrayal masked by beauty.
And she’s not the only one with scars…

Rebel North, we an all-new addictive and swoon-worthy standalone romance from New York Times bestselling author JB Salsbury is available now!

In a city where image is everything, Gabriella turns heads for all the wrong reasons.

The marks that slash across her neck and face turn people away. But I see the beauty that lies beneath, feel a kinship to her pain.

I regret the way she found me—mugged and left for dead. I should walk away, follow the rules, but I can’t. I want to see her again. There’s only one problem.

My brother convinced her I’m gay.

I use that lie to my advantage, persuade her to be my pretend girlfriend, to help protect my fake-sexual identity from my judgmental family. But what starts as a shameless excuse to be near her leads to crossed lines and midnight confessions.

I’m not who I led her to believe. I’m sin wrapped in silk. Betrayal masked by beauty.

And she’s not the only one with scars…

Review:

“With everything I have, all the things I’ve been given, all the success I’ve worked for, she’s the only one I’ve ever needed. She’s my beating heart, my muse, the missing part of me. I’ll never be whole again without her.” JB Salsbury, Rebel North

Ahhhh, JB Salsbury did it again! Rebel North is the second book in the North Brothers series. The first book, Wild North, was a 5 star read for me and was/is one of the best books I’ve read in a long time! Rebel North and any other North bros books had big shoes to fill if they were going to live up to my love for Alexander and Jordan, and man did JB deliver!

From the beginning of this book, there’s something I just can’t put my finger on about Kingston. At first I thought, maybe I’m just not connecting as much to this character as I did others in the series… Wrong! There was just so much more to learn about Kingston, so much about him that is just surface level and when you get down to the good stuff… it’s good. His character, gah! Perfectly well written. I love the dichotomy of his character, who he is as a person. I love that people make judgments about him based on appearance and surface level things but if they take the time to really look, he surprises them in the best way. I love his heart. It’s amazing to me the heart he has and the love he has for others after the lack of love he received from his own family. He loves fiercely, passionately, whole heartedly. Multiple times in this book, my heart just broke for him but I also felt this sense of pride for him as things started to change.

Speaking of characters that make your heart go up, down, and all around… enter Gabriella. I love her too. She is compassionate, caring, loyal, willing to go above and beyond to help a friend. She won’t settle. She knows her worth and won’t allow anything less than she deserves. She’s a survivor. And she’s got some sass. I could go on and on about her as well but I’m afraid the more I say about Bee, I could give the story away and that would be such a shame.

This story was a good one. It continues to develop as you read the book. There are little hints, here and there, that make you wonder what’s going to happen? How’s this going to end? Did I miss something? What is happening? But all your questions get answered by the end. And the epilogue? 😍 I loved it. I loved this story. Once again a 5 star read for me and I cannot wait for the next book in this series!

Wild North by JB Salsbury Release Day Blitz!!

Wild North by JB Salsbury is out NOW!!!

Make sure to grab your copy today!

Check out our review on this 5 star read here:

From New York Times bestselling author, JB Salsbury, comes an angsty new romance with a bossy hero and woman who was born to survive.

To me, he was Grizzly.

To the world, I would learn, he’s someone else completely.

I should have died on that mountain.

But he rescued me.

More animal than man, he’s cold, distant, and fiercely territorial. He seems to hate me for simply breathing, and yet, he brought me back to life.

After my return to the city, I can’t stop thinking about him. His rough hands, intense glare, and the way he cared for me as if I meant something to him.

He tells me he’s dangerous. That I’m not safe around him. I would eventually understand why he warned me away. But by then it’s too late. My heart is his.

Wild North by JB Salsbury Book Review!

I was lucky enough to receive an advanced copy of this beauty (in exchange for an honest review) and I am so freaking excited I was!

I just finished Wild North and I can’t stop smiling! This book was everything I hoped it would be. It was addicting, intriguing, steamy, angsty and overall just so freaking good.

I LOVED the heroine in this story, Jordan. She was dealt some crappy cards as a child, but it hasn’t stopped her from striving for better in her adult life and always looking for the best, in a partner and in general, goals for herself. She is strong, independent and fierce. She belongs to no one but gives herself to those she cares about freely. She sees the good in people and people can’t help but to end up falling in love with her (looking at you, Hayes).

Speaking of strong, independent and fierce... let’s talk about Alexander, aka Grizzly. Alexander has gone through even more traumatic times in his past than Jordan. It’s amazing that he’s become the man that he has, but all he’s experienced has contributed to that. Alexander is one of the toughest, gruffest, roughest male characters I’ve read in a while. It took a long time for Jordan to even begin to start chiseling away at his icy exterior. What’s under that ice, though? Especially where Jordan is involved? So much good, even though he can’t see it himself. There are plenty of times in this book where you want to smack him for things he’s said or done, but there are also times that he makes you swoon more than you thought possible!

I don’t want to go into the details of this book because I want this to stay a spoiler free review. What I’ll finish up with is this...this story is about tragedy, near death experiences, care, compassion, a fight for what you want and overcoming the odds. There are mountains and cabins and big cities and high rises. There are family members you want to strangle and others you think are kinda cute. There are friends who aren’t friends and don’t deserve to even be mentioned. And there are two main characters you’re going to fall into...something more with. I hope you’ll take the chance on this book, it is so worth it!!

Wild North releases May 18th!

As always...

Happy reading!

The Final Fight by JB Salsbury Review!!

"Wherever you are will always be home to me."-JB Salsbury, The Final Fight

Blurb:

When life brings you the perfect person at the worst possible time...

On a weekend visit to Las Vegas to visit his brother, Marine Braeden Daniels meets a woman who challenges him in ways he can't deny. The best part is she wants what he wants.

No strongs. No feelings. Just fun.

AJ is a Las Vegas performer who is finally living her dream. Growing up poor, she's determined to succeed at any cost. No one will stand in her way- not even a hot Marine who breezes into her life all confidence and a cocky smile.

A few stolen weekends and neither can deny the feelings quickly growing between them. But the obstacles that keep them apart become more devastating when the Marine Corps calls Braeden away for a six-month deployment.

It's only six months.

What could possibly happen?

Review:

I'm incredibly grateful for receiving an ARC for this book in exchange for an honest review. This won't be your typical review. It won't go through the development of the characters (though the characters are incredibly well-developed). It won't be a detailed summary of what happens in this story (though there will be parts of the story line). This review will be about the overwhelming feelings I had while reading this book and why I think you need to read it, but not just this book- the whole series. So, without further ado...

You guys. <-- Channeling my inner Busy Phillips --> This is the LAST BOOK in The Fighting Series and I can't even tell you how devastated I am by this series ending.

JB is one of my absolute favorite authors and each book in this amazing series has been incredible. I'm seriously in mourning that it has come to an end. Luckily, I know that JB has a passion for her readers and knows how much her words have impacted them, so my guess is she'll remind us of our favorite rough around the edges, but incredibly lovable characters some time again in the (hopefully near) future. As you go through this series, it focuses on different fighters (hinted by the title of the series: The Fighting Series). Each fighter becomes my new favorite while I'm reading that book, their story is so impactful. JB has a way of truly making a reader feel that they are in her fictional world with the characters she's created and they are our friends, our family. While my favorite has bounced around and around, ultimately I have to make my claim on Rex (Fighting to Forget)- there's just something about him that breaks my heart and sews it back together all in one sitting. Tied very closely to Rex is Blake Daniels. My blog partner and I would have to come to blows with each other about Blake if my love for Rex wasn't so strong ;) However, we have both completely become smitten with the other Daniels brother, Braeden. <--- Yes, now comes the time that I wrap my endless love letter to JB back around to the current book I'm reviewing! ---> I have been waiting for Braeden Daniels' book ever since his character was first introduced early on in the series. JB gave us maybe a paragraph to introduce Braeden, but I was already intrigued and needed to know more. JB did not disappoint when she gave Braeden his turn.

Braeden's story is one that touches close to home for me in multiple ways. I'm a family therapist so I like to read about and observe family dynamics. The Daniels family has plenty. More than that though, my personal life has been affected by the military and I have a huge interest and passion for our service members. There were so many parts in The Final Fight that I imagine are so relevant for many people/couples who've gone through deployments as well as everything leading up to their separation. As hinted at in the blurb, there are some real challenges that both Braeden and AJ have to face in their story. The battle that Braeden has to fight is a lot less physical than some of the other battles of the other characters in the series, but that doesn't mean it wasn't just as difficult to get through if not a heck of a lot worse. There was one particular scene in this book that got me, right in the feels, more than any other part of this story. The funny thing is, it wasn't between Braeden and AJ. It was between Braeden and his brother, Blake and it's good. JB, those words- keep writing words like this.

"When I look in your eyes and no longer recognize my brother in there, I will not stand by and let you slip away."

My gaze drops back to the sink, and tears build behind my eyelashes. "I'm fucking lost, bro."

"Nope. You're not." He puts both hands on my shoulders. "I will die before I let you go, you hear me? You'll be back. You'll be fighting for this shit too, but until you're there, until you get your fight back, I'm fighting for you."

That, my friends, is just one small example of how well JB writes love. This example is a brotherly love, familial love, but it's a love that can transcend any type of typical circumstance- it's that love for one another, that love where another person can see someone lost and struggling and reaches out to help, refuses to give up on them, even when they are ready to give up on themselves, that can show someone the true meaning of love. There are so many examples of love in this story. Braeden has so many who come around him in his time of struggle.

AJ is one of them. Braeden and AJ knew from the beginning there was something special between them. A chemistry that neither of them had experienced before. Their story is long and hard and passionate and real. There are highs and lows, but throughout the entire story, you (as the reader) are pulling for them. There are times I want to reach through the book and shake AJ. There are also times I want to reach through the book and shake Braeden. There are multiple times I want to reach through the book and hug them both and tell them to keep going. Keep fighting. Keep loving.

There are parts of this book that you'll love, parts that you'll hate, and parts that you hate that you love. You'll feel conflicted on multiple occasions. You'll feel the hurt and pain they feel beyond measure. You'll see the sparks fly when the passion is high. You'll feel hope and love beyond all measures. I hope you read this book. I hope you read this series. I hope it reminds you of all the feels.

Fighting Fate by JB Salsbury

JB Salsbury has hit it out of the mother #$%@! park once again!

Fighting Fate holds it's own as the sixth installment in the Fighting Series, which introduces us to Axelle and Killian. Now if you've read the other books in this series, these two should be familiar to you, they're both introduced in Fighting to Forgive. The story of Axelle and Killian's friendship turned lovers turned big, confusing hot mess, is heartbreaking. There were times throughout this book that I wanted to straight up throw my Kindle at the wall and other times I wanted to curl up in a ball and just weep. JB knows how to write a story and even better, she knows how to write amazing characters that you'll never forget.

Axelle is your typical college student who likes to party, drink too much and has one really douchey boyfriend! Killian reminds me of poor Dawson in Dawson's Creek, always the friend, never the boyfriend. But when Axelle starts to realize what's right in front of her, she realizes that her feelings go much deeper than friendship when it comes to Killian.
Killian is they guy everyone loves. He's loyal, friendly and would give the shirt off his back to someone in need. He's had feelings for Axelle since he laid eyes on her but has always felt he held the dreaded friends only card. When they both realize their feelings go beyond their friendship, their love blossoms into something wonderful.
But as we all know JB Salsbury is going to sideswipe you with a situation that will leave you saying "whooooaaaaaaa!"

Without giving anything away, Axelle makes a decision to let Killian go because he has the opportunity of a lifetime to train and fight in London and she refuses to hold him back because she needs help. Killian is heartbroken. He's confused and doesn't understand why Axelle would just push him away when she desperately needs him. So the question is, if you really do let love go, will it find its way back if it's meant to be?
Thank you JB for another incredible story!

Fighting Fate by JB Salsbury Review!!

"You don't need to protect me, Kill." Her lips are at my ear. "I can handle a lot more than you give me credit for." "I know you can, but that doesn't change the fact that I'm going to do whatever it takes to keep you safe. Fight me all you want, but you can't fight the inevitable." - JB Salsbury

I chose the above quote not because it's sweet, not because it's romantic, it's both those things. Most of all, I chose that quote because it PERFECTLY represents this book in its entirety. This singular quote tells you all you'd really need to know, especially about Killian.

I was given an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review. As always, I am so appreciative of that, Mrs. Salsbury and I thank you for the beautiful story I just read!! 😍

Killian is protective, gorgeous, dedicated, determined, loyal, strong, and faithful. Faithful not just to Axelle relationship-wise, but faithful in that he has stood by her. He has given and would give it all, give  everything for her; all she has to do is let him- she doesn't even have to ask! The star of this book for me is Killer, hands down. I'd been excited about this book for so long, ever since we were introduced to Axelle and Kill. I knew there story would be epic and JB didn't let me down. I'm not shocked by that, though-- there's nothing she's ever written that I didn't drool over!!

Axelle is fantastic, too. She's not your typical heroine. She can be pretty rough around the edges, but has a bright, shining diamond hiding deep inside. She's been hurt more in her young life than many will experience. She's been repeatedly let down by men who are supposed to love and care for you, even if no one else in the world did. She has a pretty low self-esteem because of it but she has a killer best friend who's always been there to support her and try to help build her back up. Though she's definitely had some horrible cards she's been dealt, she still ends up a pretty lucky girl!

Though hard to see it and feel it at times, Axelle has a support system that most people would love to have. She has a man who would give up himself for her happiness, she has a mother who's had a difficult life herself but always kept her daughter as her #1 priority, the most adorable little brother, and the most loving, protective Step-Father who stepped in to be the father he didn't have to be. That's not even all-- she's got a lovely family that's not blood, but runs even deeper. She's part of the UFC family and after reading this series, there seems like no other place that I'd rather be!

"For a moment, I just sit back and watch as this group of men argue who gets to exact retribution on the dickwad that put Axelle through hell, and it hits me that, although the two men who meant the most in her life left her, they've been replaced by this renegade team of fighters who would gladly get arrested for her. My heart swells at the show of support, and I wish I could capture it on video and show her just how loved she is."

I think that's what I love most about this whole series. This family. This renegade group of individuals who are so different, have all had so much struggle in their lives, but FIERCELY love those that are in their inner circle. They are so welcoming and selfless, when in most of their own stories, that urge to be so giving and caring has been beaten down, shattered, and suffocated. Fighting Fate was no different. I'm not going to go into too many details of their story. You can get that from reading the synopsis. I hope I've painted a good picture of the characters though, because in my mind, that's what this book is. These two characters and their story. I highly encourage you to read it- there's no way you'll be disappointed!

Until next time, much love and keep readin'!

Fighting for Forver by JB Salsbury - Review

The Fighting series by JB Salsbury never disappoints! She can write a story like a spider can weave a web. Her stories are constructed in a thoughtful, clever, sexy way that can only be described as epic! Every book in this series is amazing and you won’t be disappointed when you pick up the first book but I will warn you…you will become an addict!!

Fighting Forever was an amazing story of betrayal, sacrifice and love, with a whole lot of sexiness mixed in. This installment of the Fighting series is about Trix and Mason. Trix is a dancer at Zeus and we all know Mason as “Baywatch” from the other books in the series.  Trix is one of those characters that you just can’t forget. She’s dancing in a strip club not because she wants to, but because she’s on a mission to avenge her sister’s death. Trix never expects to meet someone who will make her question everything she is doing and possibly make her seek peace instead of revenge.

Mason aka Baywatch, never thought he’d need someone as much as he needs Trix. It takes one look at her and he sees right through her stripper façade, instead he sees a woman trying to fight her own demons and conquer the world at the same time. When Trix’s need for revenge and Mason’s family issues collide, they realize just how much they both need each other.

I love how JB Salsbury gives you all the feels in her books but she also gives you suspense, drama and serious intensity, and boy does she know how to write an ending! The epilogue of Trix and Mason’s story had my heart melting into a pile of mush!

I’m telling you, if you haven’t read one of JB’s books you need to! Stat with Fighting the Fight and I promise you will get sucked into a black hole of gorgeous, possessive but oh so lovable MMA fighters and their incredible women!
