Review:

A tough love mafia romance story is just what I needed to spice up my reading lately! Now and Forever is written so well and it makes you feel like you are there in the Familia, seeing it all happen, live action. I love all of the characters throughout this book, most especially Dario and Catalina. Dario and Catalina are both great characters and each have made the best of a situation that was not ideal to begin with. Dario is exactly what you would expect for being next in line to be Capo, except he is more than just your typical mafia soldier. He obviously has a heart, whether he will admit that or not, and cares for those who are special to him in his own special way. Catalina is a strong, smart woman who can take care of herself and everyone she loves. She has trials thrown at her from all directions, and she continues to hold her head high and share her light in love with everyone. This book brings lots of drama, action, family disputes and fiery passion and I am here for it. I am not sure I will be as big of a fan of Alejandro in the next book in this series, but I cannot wait until it comes out, and we will see how that goes!

Review:

What another incredible installment in the Highlands series by Samantha Young! I’ll be honest, in some of these stories that build on one another, Samantha has a way of making me leery about how I could ever really fall in love with a certain character. In her previous novel, I had told myself before reading Through the Glen there was no way I would fall in love with Theo. Boy, was I wrong then?! LOL! He ended up being one of my favorite male characters she’s ever written. I apparently didn’t learn my lesson from that though because I wasn’t sure if I was going to ‘be crazy about’ Jared either and… she proved me wrong again! Samantha Young just has an incredible talent in writing characters that are irresistible and hard not to fall in love with. She has a way of making the characters that are irredeemable seem vulnerable and the characters that we can’t get a read on becoming characters we couldn’t imagine not identifying with in some way or another. That is easily the case with Jared and Allegra. I love the premise of this story, I love a good fake marriage, I love all the Easter eggs of all the other characters we know and love popping in, I love the farm and the idyllic life described in this book in a gorgeous setting like the Scottish Highlands, I love the two of them together, I just love it all. This book kept me on the edge of my seat and had me crying with the characters when they cried, swooning when they swooned, and constantly wondering when the other shoe was going to drop and when/how we’d find out who was up to no good! Overall, I really enjoyed this read- it was the perfect addition to this series and I CANNOT WAIT for Callie and Lewis Adair’s story!! 😭

Claire, Claire, Claire… you are on fire! I recently saw a post where Claire was sharing that it took her longer than normal to release her next book because she’s made a deal with herself that she wouldn’t publish books any more that didn’t feel just right. She holds herself and her writing to a high standard because she wants to share the best words/stories she can with her readers. Her last book, Until I Get You, was such a hit that we all waited on pins and needles for whatever story she was going to put out next. When We Lied is the gift we were given, in the same fictional world of Until I Get You and I have no doubt after reading this book, it is going to be just as big of a hit as UIGY was! Finn and Joss were everything! This story was FIRE. Together, these characters were so freaking good. Spicy, spicy, spicy. They were dynamic, passionate, strong, and fierce. Joss has been dealt some truly horrible cards in life but somehow manages to still be a loving, light, hopeful and kind friend to all. Finn… Finn becomes so fierce, so protective, so loyal, so all the things you want. They go through so much in this story, it is hard to even imagine how one would handle all the things that happened! Claire’s writing and walking us through all the things that occurred just kept me addicted to turning the pages and needing to know what was going to happen next. From the beginning of this book, I was hooked and did not want to stop reading. I’ve finished the story now and feel bittersweet about it because I know all the things now but it’s over too and I’m going to miss these characters/this story! There were twists and turns, laughs and sobs, loving and fighting, and all the other things in between (plus a whole lot of crazy)! I already knew I loved Claire Contreras and her writing, but this is just another example of how freaking talented she really is. I cannot wait for whatever comes next, Claire!

Review:

Brilliant. What an incredible journey. I’m a little speechless finishing this book. It’s taking some work to gather my thoughts and put them into the right words, but maybe with a little quiet and mediation (Price would approve), I’ll be able to find the right things to say. Throughout this story, I had no clue how things would end. I honestly had no clue how I wanted any of the things to end. Obviously, I knew I wanted one thing to go a certain way/not end. But the others? The people? Who’s with who and what’s happening where? I was constantly wondering, constantly waiting to see what would happen, ever curious, ever hopeful. I became invested into these fictional characters’ lives. I felt a part of their world. I could feel the grass Price walked on. I imagined shopping in Scottie’s store. I pictured the walks with Scroat and the dunk in the pond. Jewel E Ann is an incredible storyteller. She has such a stellar way of developing characters, creating a world that readers can dive into and really feel a part of. The emotions she brought out through all of the characters in this book… gutting! I can’t remember a time recently when a book moved me so much and every single character made an impression. Bravo, Jewel E Ann, bravo. Thank you for an incredible story!!
