Review:

I knew this book was going to be incredible and I am so glad my prediction was correct! I was so sad when the Adair family series ended and was afraid I’d have to leave a family I fell in love with and a setting (looking at you, gorgeous Scottish Highlands) I fell in love with behind. While this book was mostly focused on the two main characters Sloane and Walker, I also got to continue my love affair with the Adairs, Scotland, and Samantha Young’s incredible storytelling! 

This book can easily be read as a stand-alone and the start of a brand new incredible series, but if you’re looking for several books to get hooked on- I highly recommend reading the Adair series first! It’ll help you know the supporting characters throughout this story and you’ll be delighted to see the updates in those characters’ lives too!

 However, I have to spill about my love for Walker and Sloane at this point! OMG, does Samantha Young know how to write a book filled with drama, suspense, a broody man you can’t help but fall for and a bada** female lead! Sloane and Walker’s story was everything I hoped for! On the outside, Sloane appears quiet and reserved but when you really get to know her, she’s quite the firecracker! She’s fiercely protective of her daughter, she knows what she wants and she isn’t afraid to go after it no matter how many obstacles stand in her way! She’s also very well versed in making men fall for her by way of their stomachs and her incredible desserts! Walker is the strong but silent type. He’s moody and broody and keeps to himself, but has a heart of gold and when he feels someone he cares about is threatened, he will stop at nothing to keep them safe. Gah, I love a character like Walker. I love when a male character starts off stand-offish and broody and by the end, we’ve been able to peel back a few layers to see the real guts on the inside! Sometimes they are great, sometimes they aren’t, but I’ll tell you this- Walker Ironside is one you want to get to know! “Walker’s like a Mento. Hard on the outside, soft on the inside.” 😂 

There are so many things I loved about this book. It kept me on the edge of my seat, wondering when the next shoe was going to drop and from where and/or who. It kept me wondering how it will all end for the main characters. The end of this book was all that I hoped for and ended how I needed this book to end. Overall, I am such a fan of this story, of what I’m sure will be this whole series, and of Samantha Young’s writing in general overall! Another incredible story, thank you Ms. Young!

Review:

Boy oh boy, did this book take me for a ride or what?! I had so many different emotions reading this story. From the very beginning, the first emotion was sadness only because this is the last book of the Adair Family series and I am going to miss it terribly. With each installment, I looked forward to what new couple I would fall in love with; what horrible event may occur that will hopefully ultimately lead the two leading characters closer together; and what the latest update is for all the others from earlier books I’ve already fallen head over heels for! After getting over that initial sadness and just diving deep into this story, I was excited. I loved the premise of Monroe and Brodan’s relationship, starting from childhood on. I love who Brodan was for Monroe as a young boy himself. I understood Monroe’s love and infatuation for the boy who cared for her in the best way she’d ever known. I loved it. Then, they started to grow up and both made choices that I didn’t love so much. After Brodan decided to come home to Ardnoch, he really ticked me off there for a while. While the other men in the Adair family series have done things that bothered me, I don’t think any of them have made me as angry as Brodan did a few times in this series. As the story continued to unfold and we learned more and more, I was able to extend a little more grace and forgiveness than I initially thought I’d be able to. Brodan definitely grew on me in this story, and by the end, he has become as beloved a character as all the other men in this series. That’s enough about Brodan for now, though. My girl crush is totally on Monroe in this story! She is such a survivor. She has gone through blow after blow and continues to fight, continues to look for the positive, continues to forgive (herself and others), continues to know her worth despite those who are supposed to love her treating her the opposite of what she deserves. Monroe’s heart seems so pure and genuine and she easily seems like the type of friend you’d be lucky to have in your life. I found myself wanting all the things, all the best for Monroe, and I love that a book and fictional characters can make me react so strongly. This truly speaks to the incredible talent of Samantha Young and her intrinsic ability to create a fictional world so easy to fall in love with. This book is just another example of that. I’m not going to go into too many more details because I want you to read it and experience it all on your own, but it’s so good. I enjoyed this book and this series so much. The setting of this series is magical. I want to tour the castle and walk on the beach with a view of the North Sea, feeling the wind blowing through my hair, sipping on a nice glass of Scotch with a picnic basket in hand. This book, this series I think, is a love letter to Scotland, to its beautiful people, to the love that is possible for us all. Thank you Ms. Young for such an incredible story, in such a magical setting. You’ve made my wanderlust heart boost Scotland to the top of my bucket list after reading this incredible series. If you haven’t taken the time to read this series yet, please do. You won’t be disappointed!

What a great addition to the Adair family series! I have been so curious about Eredine since she was first introduced early on in the series. She’s always seemed so quiet, so reserved, keeping most of her life private so as to possibly hide a scary past, but I’ve also always thought of her as so strong. This book just proved that for me. While all the leading ladies in each story in the Adair family series is amazing and strong, Ery really just spoke to me in this story. She’s a warrior. She may not think she is, she may struggle with dealing with her past, have struggles with anxiety and panic, but damn can she hold her own and don’t you dare try to treat her like glass. I just love her. I also can’t mention how much I love her without mentioning Arran Adair. I’ve been curious about him too in the other stories. He was always the wild child wanderer of the family but I love seeing the transformation that occurs for him. I love the growth of both of these characters. I just love the whole Adair family. Samantha Young has done such an incredible job of storytelling in this series that it is easy to picture yourself at Ardnoch, amongst the Adairs, and the life they lead. The world building of this story and all the stories in this series is phenomenal, and I didn’t want to stop reading. There’s so much action that you’re locked in every page. Thank you for another great story, Ms. Young! I cannot wait for Bro’s story!!

Oh, how I have been waiting for this book!! Ever since we met Robyn in Here With Me (book 1 in the series) I was so curious about her father, Mac. The wait did not disappoint! First let me say, you don’t have to read the other books in the series first if you really don’t want to, but I HIGHLY recommend it! I loved how this story continues to build with a family that we’ve known and fallen in love with in the other books! The main characters from the other stories continue to develop with their lives while also focusing mostly on this particular couple (Mac and Arro) while also somehow simultaneously building suspense for the other characters who will hopefully be getting books dedicated to them next! Samantha Young has an incredible way of doing all of this and more with these epic love stories she continues to weave. This book, Always You, is such a slow burn that it drives you crazy but also desperately keeps you waiting on pins and needles to see how it all turns out! I love the passion and the love that these two have for each other. I love that Mac is able to own his own stuff and I LOVE the addition of Iona and their talks!! This couple goes through so much, both in their pasts and in their present that you can’t help but root for them and pray they get their happy ending, whatever that looks like for them both. This book was intense, a page turner, a building burn, a star crossed love situation in a lot of ways… just a brilliant book. I loved it. I can’t wait to see what comes next. Oh and I loved the epilogue too! 😍🥰 Now onto sweet dreams of Scotland and the beautiful views described throughout this book!
