Review:

Samantha, Samantha, Samantha! Every book you write brings a new level of excitement and joy for me. I have to admit, I went into this book with a strong opinion of Theo and a questioning on how he’s going to compete with so many other beloved characters Ms. Young has written. I thought he was arrogant, rude, unapproachable and truly just didn’t see how he could flip into a character I ended up loving. My, my, how wrong I was. I ended up loving his character. Much of that is due to Sarah and what her love really allowed him to be, but once we got to see the real Theo… man, he pulled on my heart strings and had me pulling for him so much. Sarah, however, I was thrilled to read about. I knew she had more to bring to the table than we’d seen from her before. This whole story just shows how Sarah grows and develops and turns into a rather strong, badass woman who has handled quite a lot in her life. She reminds me of Robyn in some ways, just lacking some of the confidence Robyn has, but Theo has done so many things to help her realize she should be confident and she should know her own worth! Overall, I just really love these characters and especially love what they do for each other. They individually go through a lot in this book/in their lives but when they come together… they are unstoppable! The question is if they’ll let all the other junk get in their way and prevent them from having a happily ever after no two characters deserve more. I so enjoyed reading this book. I loved being in the beautiful highlands once again with a little jaunt to London. I loved getting little Easter eggs of characters from earlier books in the series that I know and LOVE. I just loved it all. Thank you for another incredible story and I will be on pins and needles waiting for Jared and Allegra’s story next!!

Review:

I have been looking forward to diving back into the SWT/ K-pop world and this book was all that I wanted it to be! In the first book of this series, I fell in love with all the members of SWT, the newest k-pop band sensation, especially Lucas and his girl Grace. After reading that story, I hoped Sookie’s story would be next because his character just held so much mystery I had to learn more about him! I love how in this book it talks so much about the character Sookie has to portray in the band as the maknae but also who he really is on the inside. I love that Ari gets to know and loves him as both. I found myself frustrated with her at times for not throwing caution to the wind and just jumping in head first, but at the same time that’s something I love about her- that she cares enough about him and his career, his life, that she wants to preserve all that she can. Both Sookie and Ari are in sticky situations throughout this whole book that you can’t help but hope for the best for them. They go through things that make you cringe, make you want to yell, but also make you want to swoon. Sookie’s character was everything I hoped it would be. I didn’t have any expectations for Ari because I just didn’t know what or who to expect for Sookie, but I loved her character as well. Overall, I enjoyed this story, enjoyed getting to imagine what life is like behind the scenes of a famous k-pop group and enjoyed all the ups and downs this book took us on! Thanks to Rachel Van Dyken for another incredible story and having the chance to read and review this book. I cannot wait for the next one!

 Review:

I just finished reading Among the Heather and I so don’t want it to be over! It was an incredibly well written story with characters (at least most of them) that are hard not to love. I felt such a kinship to Aria especially. Her struggles with insecurity hit close to home for me and it was just written so well. I also loved getting to know more about her and the Howard family dynamic and how that really shaped her as a person. Speaking of shaping a person, North’s story is one of heart ache and perseverance. He has gone through so much and really made something of himself. What he went through could face really impacted him as an adult but he strived for success and a life to be proud of and he was successful. Both of these main characters just pull you in and make you somehow feel like you can see yourself in them or at least like you’re their friend witnessing all of this firsthand. Samantha Young has such an incredible way of pulling you into a fictional story that somehow feels so real and like you are a part of it, right in the center of all the action. I could physically feel the tension of everyone in the middle of The Gloaming during a certain event of this book. I felt the fear Aria felt multiple times through this story. I felt my heart hurting for North on multiple occasions. The emotions this story brought along were real and par for the course of what I’ve come to expect from Ms. Young. Thank you for another incredible story set in your magical Highland lands. I can’t wait to read more about Sarah and Theo in the next one, I know it will be just as good!

Review:

Roan and Aspen’s story was everything I hoped it would be. In the earlier books of this series, I knew Aspen was going to be a character, full of mystery and intrigue with the kindest heart possible. Roan has intrigued me from the very beginning. There is something about a character that a small town has turned on with no good reason that pulls me in and really makes me want to see his happy ending. I loved getting to see all of the Hartley family we have fallen in love with in this series and all the updates that came with this story. It felt like it was full of little Easter eggs for those of us who have read the complete series so far, and I was here for every single one of them. One of my favorite things about this book, and really this series overall, is this amazing family, who has come together to love and protect each other at all costs. It is not only blood family members that get to be part of the Hartley clan, but so many others to that we have fallen in love with who makes such special additions to an already incredible family. I can’t keep talking about my love of the characters in this book without mentioning sweet Cady, she is so full of life, joy, and pure innocence. Catherine Cowles really did a great job in describing the heart and love a child can give to everyone around her through this character. She reminded me of my own daughter, who is the light of my life. Overall, this book was highly anticipated for me, especially for the main characters, and it did not disappoint with the anticipation I built up for it. I was on the edge of my seat, especially throughout the last half of the book. The book kept me wondering who was involved, and how the story was going to play out. The characters Roan and Aspen were everything I hoped for them to be, and I loved reading both of their stories, individually and together. I highly recommend reading this book and all the books before it in this series. Once again, I am left anxiously awaiting the next book in the series and cannot wait to see who will capture Lawson’s heart, though I am so not ready for this series to be over!

After reading Paisley’s story in book one of this series, I’ve been anxiously awaiting reading more about Dakota and this book was all I had hoped it would be! Dakota is your girl next door, loving sister, great friend, amazing baker and overall kind soul. She’s the good girl and she loves the bad boy! Ryder is rough around the edges, into metal work and always has an air of mystery about him. One thing is for sure, though- he’s always been crazy about Dakota and will do whatever he can to protect her. There’s so much I loved about this story. I wondered all throughout the book how this story would end. I waited for the eventual other shoe to drop and it was a surprise I wasn’t expecting! I fell in love with a fictional little boy named Kayden (Dakota is a single mom and rocking it). I fell in love with this small town and this group of people that all love and help to protect one another. I wanted to be a part of this community at Time River and I desperately want to try a lunch at Dakota’s restaurant because it sounds divine! The imagery AL Jackson was able to create with this story was so good, it made the characters so lovable, the place magical and the treats enticing! Overall, I really enjoyed this story. I’m so happy with the ending and I cannot wait for Ezra’s story next!!
