Review:
What a journey!! From Nowhere takes the reader on quite a whirlwind trip through many of life’s highs and lows with some of the saddest things you can imagine as well as the sweetest, most thoughtful, happiest things you can think of. This review isn’t really going to be about the storyline because I want you to experience that for yourself.
This review is going to be about the people of this book, though. The characters in this book really made me fall in love with it. Ozzy, Lola, and Maren will live rent free in my head for a while and I won’t be sorry about that!
Ozzy may very well be the most romantic male lead I’ve read in a book in a long time, and the best part is he doesn’t even realize he’s so swoon worthy. It’s just the way he is. He is an incredible, patient father and truly one of my favorite male book characters now. He loves his daughter Lola so well, he treats everyone he knows with kindness, he’s passionate, thoughtful, funny, handy, and devoted. There’s one part of the book where he makes some decisions that made me want to scream, but I also understood why he made them.
Maren may be one of my favorite female characters, too. She is a strong, fierce female pilot who loves hard and braves all the dangerous, scary things. When Maren decides what she wants, she is all in for it. She knows what she wants and goes for it every time. She has a heart of gold and seems like she would be someone you know your life would be better for because she’s in your corner.
Their story is a messy one. There are so many hurts in this book it can tear at your heart strings. But there’s hope and light and love, too. I hope you’ll take the chance to read it!
P.S. the ending is something I never would’ve expected to love but felt it was epic and perfect for this story!
